The Biden campaign released a targeted response calling on Mark Meadows, Mike Pence and Trump to end the coronavirus pandemic.
The Biden campaign said in a statement to PoliticusUSA:
White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows amazingly admitted this morning that the government has given up controlling this pandemic and that it has given up its fundamental duty to protect the American people. This wasn't a Meadows slip, but an open affirmation of President Trump's strategy since this crisis began: waving the white flag of defeat and hoping that ignoring the virus will simply go away. It hasn't and it won't.
No wonder then that this virus continues to rage uncontrollably across the country and even in the White House. The dire reality is we continue to set records for new cases, and the fact that the head of the White House's coronavirus task force has an outbreak in his office and still refuses to follow CDC guidelines shows us exactly , Why. It is especially outrageous when science tells us that we could save thousands of lives if we only took basic precautions now. For example, the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington said that universal masking could save around 100,000 lives in the next few months. It's been a long time since President Trump and his administration listened to scientists, took action, and finally took seriously the threat of a virus that kills thousands of lives every week, closes our schools, and displaces millions of Americans from work.
Trump's White House chief of staff admitted they have given up trying to keep the pandemic under control. Donald Trump hosts virus spreading events where he brushes against Obama rather than taking basic security precautions.
Trump and his administration have given up, and it's clear America's only hope of defeating the pandemic is to choose a fighter like Joe Biden.
