In a new interview, President Obama slammed the internet and social media, claiming that, as Vox left, they helped create "the greatest threat to democracy."
Speaking to Jeffrey Goldberg of the Atlantic, the former Democratic president said he was concerned about the growth of "conspiracy theories" and the inability to "tell what is true and what is not."
Obama wants government and corporate oversight
The former president didn't crush any words. Although he doesn't come out right out and say it, his intention for my reading is clear.
He wants things that he agrees to be published, and he wants things that he does not agree with to be censored, banned, or otherwise silenced.
Obama tried to piece together a narrative that there are essentially two Americas with two facts – generally the right and the left.
The freedom of social media and the internet, of course, makes this worse.
And if you didn't know, there is only one side telling untruths.
Too many people watch Fox News:
"If Fox News isn't on every TV, in every barber shop and in every VFW hall, it could be a Sinclair-owned station and the requirements that exist there …" said Obama.

The media landscape is very different from when everyone received their messages with a single voice:
"We don't have Walter Cronkite describing the tragedy of Kennedy's assassination, but also telling supporters and critics of the Vietnam War that this is not what the generals and the White House tell us. Without this shared narrative, democracy will be very tough . "
Obama talks about how a man named Barack Hussein Obama managed to win Iowa and lets the mask slip off:
"Part of the shared narrative was a function of the three major networks and a handful of papers that were disproportionately influential."
Now there are so many people with their own opinions:
"They are not going to eliminate the Internet. They are not going to eliminate the thousands of channels in the air with niche viewers designed for every political preference. Without that, it becomes very difficult for us to do big things. We have a hard time saying," Hey, we have a pandemic here; it's fatal; it's serious; let's put partiality aside … "
Obama told Goldberg, "The first change doesn't require private corporations to provide a platform for a point of view, which is there. Ultimately, we have to find a combination of government regulations and corporate practices that address this because it will get worse. If you do If you can only commit crazy lies and conspiracy theories with text, imagine what you can do when it looks like you or I are saying something on video. "
Are you starting to get an idea?
And who will make these decisions about what is a "crazy lie" or a "conspiracy theory" as opposed to Obama's truth?
Big tech companies, of course, and the federal government. Is any of these friends a conservative?
What "false news" is is determined by these people, not by a neutral arbiter of the truth.
And who is being censored? Not the.
You and me buddy This is who
And of course we're already seeing it. You can even do it to the President of the United States of America.

Restricting information has always been the tool of the elite
In fact, as Obama said, we are not getting into an epistemological crisis.
We are finally breaking free from the shackles of a limited flow of information.
Yes, it is possible to be misled by the internet and social media, but the positives are far more worth it.
By restricting information, the elites have been in control for thousands of years.
There were always counter-narratives that challenged them, but they never saw the light of day.
Now unpleasant truths can finally be exposed to the masses.
So Obama and leftists like him hate the internet and social media – not because of a lack of truth, but because it doesn't do what he wants.
He didn't complain in 2008 when it helped him get elected. He did not complain in 2011 when the Arab Spring began, which he supported.

Social media needs "gatekeepers" to prevent conservatives from spreading the truth
They want to stop the spread of real news, not fake news.
You can tell from the topics of conversation that have now disappeared.
See below how leftists view freedom of information:
In the world of no gatekeeper social media, @drvox says "misinformation wins".

And who do they want goalkeepers? Conservative.
Watch below as Democratic Senator Blumenthal speaks to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg about conservative sites and personalities like Breitbart, The Gateway Pundit, and members of the Trump family:

That's what they mean. “Fake news” is something they don't want to hear.
Freedom of expression and freedom of the press are two cornerstones of a free society.
We know exactly who is opposing these fundamental freedoms and why.
