Ben Carson reveals that he used unapproved natural dietary supplements to deal with Covid-19 following the advice of the CEO of MyPillow
Ben Carson, President Donald Trump The Minister of Housing and Urban Development used an unapproved herbal preparation to treat Covid-19 on the recommendation of Mike Lindell, the CEO of MyPillow.
Lindell recommended that people should take it Oleander extract used to treat coronavirus symptoms. Carson told the Washington Post that his symptoms went away within hours of ingestion.
"Carson said he took the extract, which was not approved by the FDA for such uses and was classified as dangerous by experts, and within hours his symptoms were gone – – to the delight of Lindell, who has a financial stake in the company that makes the extract, ”the Post reported.
"Anyone who's ever got hungry and taken it will be fine in five hours, and the next day they'll be walking around the hallway playing floor hockey," said Lindell.
Lindell has briefed the Trump administration on the effectiveness of oleander extract, but it has not been approved.
The news is a U-turn from Carson's earlier statements.
In August, Carson told ABC News that he was still on the fence about the herbal supplement, saying it should be tested on people before it goes on the market and is taken by anyone.
"It's not time for that yet," Carson said at the time. "Hopefully what will happen is clinical trials will take place. This should go the same way as other things. We shouldn't skip the process. "
"You know what happened to Mike Lindell, who is a fantastic salesman but not a scientist, may skew the process," Carson added, noting that the Food and Drug Administration is investigating the supplement.
