Brian Williams brings the humorous up with correct mockery of McCarthy and Trump reunion

Hour 11 with Brian Williams is a MSNBC newscast that takes place late at night. As with any of these political news programs, Williams covers a few stories from the day and then gets guests to discuss their opinions on those stories. On Thursday evening Williams had to discuss the neoconservative Bill Kristol and the writer Baratunde Thurston Kevin McCarthy's trip to Florida to lick the boots of the disgraced, twice-accused President Donald Trump in Mar-a-Lago. Allegedly, the meeting was an attempt by the Republican leadership to get Donald Trump not to prime their GOP candidates for 2022 with more Marjorie Taylor Greene-type fascists.

Williams' show told the two men that he wanted them to see what Williams called "the first video – exclusive video – from that McCarthy and Trump meeting today," and switched to a clip from the hit Tom Cruise film Jerry Maguire from 1996. If you've seen the movie, or just remember the movie, you'll know exactly which clip was playing. When Williams returned to his guests, he played it so dryly that some people thought it was really a prank played in the 11th hour itself and said, "We sold a parts list here … and someone will of course get into great trouble. " It was not like that. It was a reminder of the perverse and seductive commitment some Republicans seem to have developed towards Donald Trump to touch power.
