Trump's attorneys alleged that House impeachment managers took Trump out of context and then played rigged Democratic videos
Trump attorney David Schoen argued that the Democrats tampered with Trump’s footage: "Let me be clear – we have reason to believe the property managers tampered with evidence and selectively edited the footage."
Twenty minutes later, Schön played a heavily and selectively edited rigged video package by Democrats that said the word struggle:

Trump's impeachment defense consisted of pulling lies, false equivalences and denial of responsibility from the standard Trump game book. Republican senators, ignoring the property managers' careful presentation of their case, sat attentively, taking in all Trump lies and topics of conversation.
During his presidency, Trump would claim that all harmful evidence of his behavior was fake. The trend continues throughout his impeachment defense. Trump attacks the evidence against him because he has no argument to deny that he spent months instigating a mob and ordering them to attack the Capitol.
