Fox Information Channel provides conservative favorites like Gowdy and Bongino to the weekend lineup

The Fox News Channel is messing things up again.

The network will be adding two new shows to its weekend programming beginning in early June, with the conservative favorite, former South Carolina congressman Trey Gowdy, and former intelligence agent and radio host Dan Bongino at the top.

Gowdy spent eight years in Congress representing South Carolina's Fourth Congressional District and became a big tea party favorite because of his no-nonsense style. Bongino's star has risen dramatically among conservatives in recent years.

Starting in June, @dbongino and @TGowdySC will have their own weekend shows on Fox News. You can find further changes in the weekend schedule here.

Trey Gowdy's new show

Gowdy's show airs at 7:00 p.m. Eastern on Sundays and serves as a warm-up for another popular conservative radio host, writer, and commentator, Mark Levin.

According to a Fox News press release, Gowdy,

Leveraging his experience as a former prosecutor and chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Gowdy will break down the latest legal and political news from around the country and provide his expert perspective as he gives viewers the tools to make their own conclusions to pull. ”

Prior to Congress, Gowdy served six years as a U.S. assistant attorney and ten years as an attorney (district attorney) before jumping into the political arena.

Bongino will put on new show

Dan Bongino is no stranger to Fox News viewers either. He is a retired NYPD officer who served the citizens of Brooklyn for two years.

Bongino then joined the secret service and eventually worked his way down to the details of the President of former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

After two unsuccessful attempts to apply for office, he started a podcast and has worked for radio hosts Mark Levin and Sean Hannity.

Bongino's own radio show will air on Fox Nation on May 25, during the coveted time slot previously held by the late conservative icon Rush Limbaugh.

A press release from the Bongino team states: "Viewers can expect Dan's passionate and powerful voice on topics from policing to censorship." He will also publish stories and interviews from "community heroes like frontline veterans and police officers who keep America safe".

Dan Bongino is a frequent guest on several Fox shows. His fiery debates with Geraldo Rivera, a Fox News contributor, are legendary by some reports.

Bonginos Show will air on Saturday, June 5th at 10 p.m. Eastern Time.

The conversion of Fox News

Election night 2020 was not a good one for Fox News Channel. The network, set up by Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch to counter what he perceived of the other large networks to be left-wing, was a focal point for conservatives.

On election night, Fox News was one of the first to call Arizona for Joe Biden, with only 78% of the vote counting.

In January, Fox had some of the lowest ratings ever. Some longtime viewers said they were "done" with Fox News.

But with some new shows with familiar faces like Gowdy and Bongino, Fox could offer viewers some sort of apology and lure them back with unabashed conservatives.

It will be up to them to see if Fox News can make up with angry viewers and lure them back into the fold.

Bongino gets to Watters and Pirro on Saturdays at 10 p.m. – very red meat for the base. Gowdy gets on Sunday at 7 p.m.
