Trump blows up "weak" Republicans, says Mitch McConnell is "hopeless"

Former President Donald Trump didn't let anyone ask what he thought of the current leadership of the Republican Party during an interview with One America News on Thursday night.

In an interview with OAN's Chanel Rion, Trump ripped the current Republican leadership as "weak" and explicitly described Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) as "hopeless".

Trump spoke of the ongoing negotiations between Democrats and Republicans to form a 9/11-style commission to investigate the events of Jan. 6 when Trump supporters broke through the Capitol building.

Legislation to form the commission was passed with 35 Republican votes on Wednesday and is now moving to the Senate.

Trump's thoughts on GOP leaders

President Trump did not talk about his disappointment with Republicans and Mitch McConnell: "I'm watching the negotiations – a one-way negotiation in Congress. They get whatever they want approved. McConnell is hopeless and nothing can stop them."

Rion then asked a very interesting question.

She asked Trump if there was any real difference between McConnell and Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). Trump's answer was a bit cryptic: "I would rather not say it, but it definitely is."

Trump, however, explained his answer to Rion's question in more detail:

"I'm telling you that if Chuck Schumer had been there on the day the vote was counted, he would have said there was no way we could approve this. He would actually say that four years ago, right? Four years ago they got up and no one complained If our people get up, they'll be scolded and they'll fold instantly – Mitch McConnell as an example. "

Trump also spoke about how McConnell was eager to "get down to business". He added, “And you know what the deal was. Biden signed 17 executive orders. in practically its first day and each of them was a disaster for our country. So we need a much sharper and tougher leadership. "

The President talked about many things

In a preview of the interview with OAN's Natalie Harp, Rion said she and Trump spoke on many topics, including big tech, immigration and the Biden administration, and the upcoming elections in 2022 and 2024.

The only thing Rion caught her eye is a recurring theme of a collusion between Big Tech, the media and the Biden administration trying to cover up big stories she describes as "right in front of our eyes".

She went on to say that Trump believes that because of their weakness in the face of these three very large entities, Republicans are complicit in the alleged collusion. She also said that Trump believes that if the GOP doesn't do something about a perceived weakness in the Republican Party now, voters will be concerned that what happened in 2020 will happen again and they won't come to the vote.

Chanel Rion also said that President Trump is very optimistic and doesn't feel like the momentum has been lost on the GOP side.

Rallies are coming again!

Trump rallies are making a comeback this summer. Two events are planned for June and one in July. The MAGA rallies have yet to be officially announced, so the dates, times and places are still unknown.

Trump is also expected to speak at the GOP convention in North Carolina in June. It will be his first speech since his February presentation at CPAC.

Chanel Rion's exclusive interview with President Donald Trump will air multiple times on the One America News Network this weekend.
