President Biden is not allowing the conspiracies of Republican COVID origins to blossom as he has ordered the Intel community to report on the origins of the pandemic in 90 days.
President Biden said in a statement to PoliticusUSA:
In early 2020, when COVID-19 surfaced, I called on the CDC to gain access to China to learn more about the virus so we can fight it more effectively. Failure to get our inspectors on-site during these first few months will always hamper any investigation into the origin of COVID-19.
In March, shortly after I became president, my National Security Advisor, the Intelligence Community, gave me a report on their most recent analysis of the origins of COVID-19, including whether it had resulted from human contact with COVID-19 an infected animal or from a laboratory accident. I received this report earlier this month and asked for additional follow-up. To date, the US intelligence community has "banded around two likely scenarios" but has not reached a definitive conclusion on the matter. Here is their current position: “While two elements in the IC tend toward the former and one toward the latter – each with low or moderate confidence – most elements do not believe that there is enough information to rate one as more likely than the other. "
I have now asked the intelligence community to redouble their efforts to gather and analyze information that could move us closer to a final conclusion and to report back to me in 90 days. As part of this report, I asked about areas that may require further investigation, including specific questions for China. I have also asked that this effort include the work of our National Labs and other agencies in our government to enhance the efforts of the intelligence community. And I've asked the intelligence community to keep Congress informed of its work.
The United States will continue to work with like-minded partners around the world to urge China to participate in a full, transparent, evidence-based international investigation and provide access to all relevant data and evidence.
The president's order will keep Republicans' conspiracy theories about COVID from being created in a lab and funded by the United States, according to Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA).
Everyone knows the report won't end conspiracy theories, but it is the final nail in the coffin for Republican claims that Biden is not doing enough to find out what caused the pandemic.
President Biden learned from the Obama years. His government has its ears down and they will not allow the GOP conspiracy factory to gain momentum in our national discourse.
