Cindy McCain admits she flinches when she watches daughter Meghan McCain on "The View".

Cindy McCain admitted in a new interview this week that she sometimes flinches while watching her daughter Meghan McCain on the ABC talk show "The View."

Cindy McCain discusses her daughter

Cindy told host Andy Cohen that since her family nickname is "John McCain in a Dress", people shouldn't be surprised by their daughter's fiery nature. She also said that Meghan "does a great job" on the show.

"She stands up for what she believes, and that's all you can ask," said Cindy. "And she's really smart too. I appreciate what she does. I don't always agree with her, but I appreciate it."

Cindy added, however, that she is sometimes disturbed when Meghan gets into an argument with her co-workers, including Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg.

"Yeah, from a mom – you teach your kids to be polite and nice to other people and all of those things, and it makes me wince a little," Cindy said. "But again, it's her job and it's what she does, and it's Whoopi's job to keep the peace, so I understand everything that's going on there. But as a mother, that bothers me a bit."

The virtual meeting was called after ABC was flooded with requests to fire McCain for attacking Behar.

Insiders said that Godwin, who only took over the helm of ABC earlier this month, told the women that things on the show had gotten way too personal, not because of the issues discussed, but because of the personal attacks. She added that it is toxic to viewers and that she doesn't want the program to move any further in that direction.

McCain had none of it, however. Sources said she stormed out of the meeting before it ended because she felt she was being "attacked".
