It will get worse for Republicans because the GOP fails to dam Justice Division subpoenas from Barr and Trump
Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) pointed out that Republicans cannot block subpoenas from former AG William Barr and other Trump DOJ officials.
Rep. Lieu tweeted:
Thanks to the chairman @RepJerryNadler and his leadership. We at @HouseJudiciary are ready to get to the bottom of this scandal.
We can also summon former DOJ employees. We hope the House Republicans support this investigation as well, but they cannot block our subpoenas. https://t.co/MMCYjYH3SN

Not only is there now an investigation into Trump using the DOJ to spy on his supposed enemies, but these Trump DOJ staff have no one in their corner to block, slow down, or stop the House's investigation.
House Democrats on the Justice Committee can summon whoever they want, and Republicans cannot do anything about it. If a former Trump DOJ employee wants to challenge the subpoena in court, he pays out of pocket.
Republicans are screwed because their worst nightmare on the way into 2022 is coming true. Outside of office, the former failed one-year-old president's legacy of corruption continues to haunt the GOP's hopes for the mid-term elections.
