Report: Fb Vice President Nick Clegg admits their fact-checkers could also be politically biased

According to The Daily Mail, it was recently revealed that Facebook Vice President Nick Clegg admitted that his company's "fact-checkers" may be politically biased.

While many leftists have supported moves by the social media giant to try to stamp out “misinformation” and “fake news,” conservatives have warned all along that fact-checkers would be biased and left-leaning.

Conservative media outlets – like The Political Insider – have been deeply and negatively influenced by Facebook's left “fact checking” partners.

The recent reversal of Facebook's policy on blocking content suggesting COVID originated in a Wuhan lab only underscores this point.

The Daily Mail: Facebook's Clegg & # 39; stresses that independent fact-checkers are not necessarily objective & # 39;

The Daily Mail reported: “Facebook Vice President Nick Clegg has admitted that the company's fact-checkers – used to eradicate alleged 'fake news' from its social media platforms – may be biased and, according to one European, their own political goals could follow the Commission document received from The Mail on Sunday. "

"The document shows that Mr Clegg and Vera Jourova, Vice President of the European Commission, discussed how Facebook tackled disinformation two weeks earlier during the 2020 US presidential election," the mail said.

The news agency then stated: "However, the Minutes add," He (Mr Clegg) also stressed that independent fact-checkers are not necessarily objective because they have their own agenda. "

The mail reads: "Former Cabinet Secretary David Jones described Mr Clegg's comments as 'deeply worrying'."

Jones said, “The admission completely destroys the credibility of Facebook's own practices. It gives news organizations no right of objection if it censors them, although it may have acted on the advice of fact-checkers motivated by 'their own agenda'. "

Conservative media outlets like The Political Insider have seen heavy censorship since Facebook introduced their guidelines in 2016 – they block our readers from viewing content, and Facebook severely throttles our reach.

Facebook response: "Nick never suggested there was bias"

Facebook responded by saying, "Nick never claimed our fact-checking program was biased."

"He described that one advantage of having a number of independent fact-checking partners is the variety of specializations in different countries and subject areas they bring with them," added Facebook.

Facebook first announced it would begin a stepped-up fact-checking process in 2016 after Liberals claimed Donald Trump did not help win the White House before this year's presidential election.

Facebook “fact check” first “exposed” Wuhan Lab leak

Facebook would later also introduce fact-checking warnings in posts suggesting the global coronavirus pandemic may have originated in a Wuhan laboratory in China, where it may have been synthetically made.

When more mainstream reports surfaced in May suggesting that the laboratory theory might have substance, Facebook announced it would remove the "Facebook and Instagram false claims" tags from such posts.
