Donald Trump's political aspirations faded after the January 6 uprising. He was kicked off every major social media platform. And Republican leaders Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy had pissed him off for his role in instigating the insurrection.
The former president could have been finished by that point. But it wasn't. Just days after attacking him, Kevin McCarthy was down in Mar-a-Lago paying allegiance to the former president. Tonight on CNN, Jim Acosta screwed the California congressman for reviving Trump's career.
Acosta said to Wolf Blitzer: "This is another Kevin McCarthy. In January he said Donald Trump was responsible for the January 6 uprising. It's hard for the Republican Party to justify. You talked about repressive regimes in Cuba and the Caribbean and at the same time kissed the would-be dictator's ring in Bedminster. I mean, that's exactly what they're doing right now. "

When asked if Trump was pulling McCarthy's strings, the expert continued: "It sounds like he's the Republican Party's organ grinder. At the beginning of the year he was almost like a dictator in exile. He's now a comeback dictator, and he's currently supported by the likes of Kevin McCarthy. They breathe life into the tattered ruins of his presidency, and it's just shameful to watch. "
Every Republican was asked to make a choice in the post-Trump era. The vast majority have chosen to continue riding the Trump train. And that list certainly includes McCarthy.
