A Florida appeals court ruled in favor of Governor Ron DeSantis and prevented schools from waiving mask requirements.
Florida 1st District Court on Friday reintroduced masking requirements in schools and blocked local school requirements, court documents show.
Florida Governor's attorneys Ron DeSantis filed the emergency appeal after a judge ruled Wednesday that the state of Florida must suspend enforcement of a mask ban.
The latest court ruling comes amid a showdown between the state and some local school districts that have insisted that students wear masks if Covid-19 infections rise.
The case is still ongoing. There will be more appeals, and if Governor DeSantis manages to block mask mandates in schools, his policies will destroy his approval rating, and President Biden has already assured Florida school officials that the federal government will pay their salaries if DeSantis tries to punish them each school district for issuing a mask mandate.
Ron DeSantis didn't win. Florida adults and children lost because they are now less safe in school.
